According to the various prophecies, the Comet or asteroid will come to symbolize the World War III. The prophecies indicate that not only will the Comet appear during the time the war will be going on, but it will strike the Earth (actually an ocean or sea) and will cause devastating tidal waves, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions leading to the loss of millions of lives. In all probability this event will pave the way for the Eastern forces to attack and occupy a weakened and devastated Europe. Other prophecies indicate that another collision will take place after the peace (following WW-III) is over and during the "End of the World". Here is a collection of prophecies which indicate the event of Comets striking the earth.
The Bible - Book of Revelation (8:7-12)
"The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mixed with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp [other translations, "a torch"], and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood [means "bitter" or unpotable]; and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter. And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so that the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise."
Probably the comet/asteroid would be broken up in various chunks, big and small. Some smaller ones will come first ("hail and fire mixed with blood"), fall on the land and explode in balls of fire destroying trees and towns probably. The big one, the bulk of the core ("mountain burning with fire") would hit the sea causing ships and creatures of the sea to be destroyed instantly. The resulting tidal waves would also destroy the coastal towns and cities. A smaller part of the comet or asteroid would fall on the land and throw up rocks and ash into the atmosphere. The resulting dust would rise into the atmosphere and block the sun and moonlight as is usual in such a scenario. The waters of the rivers would also be polluted, probably because of some radioactive minerals in the comet/asteroid, which would result in many deaths. It goes on to say "And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key of the shaft of the bottomless pit; he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft." This seems to be a description of some kind of volcanic eruption which will be a result of the great impact of the comet/asteroid. This itself will also further contribute to the spewing of smoke and ash into the atmosphere, blocking the sunlight further. This is the general scenario which the scientists agree will be the result of a big comet or asteroid striking the earth. Thus the descriptions in the Biblical Book of Revelations, with all its religious fervour, is an accurate description of a Comet or asteroid striking the earth during the war of "Armageddon". This would have seemed surreal to us but for the Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, which all of humanity watched with awe when it broke up into several pieces and fell into the planet Jupiter during July 1994. There is also evidence of such collisions taking place in the Earth itself in the pre-historic times and also more recently in Tunguska, Siberia.
"And I saw heaven open and behold a white horse, and he that sat upon him....is called the Word of God...amid flaming fire (thunder and lightning)... (Rev.19, 11)
The Great Monarch will appear on a white horse (see the Hindu Prophecies below) "amid flaming fire", which may describe the striking of the Comet.
