Cap & Trade in a nutshell

Grassfire Nation News Alert
4/21/2010

Get ready for a massive gas tax. See below...

The Cap and Tax Energy Tax is set to be unveiled on Monday. It's the start of the full-court press to expand government control over the energy and
manufacturing sectors of the economy -- and impose a huge
"global warming" tax on every American consumer.

Details are starting to leak out. Here's some of what Reuters
is reporting...

--Cap and Trade regulation of the utilities in 2012,
creating a pass-through utilities tax for consumers...

--Manufacturers come in line in 2016, causing American
products to have a built-in carbon tax that, once
again, is passed on to consumers...

--Green carbon "offsets" which amount to nothing
more than a global warming guilt offering...

--Tariffs on overseas products, which is an admission
that the Cap and Tax scheme will greatly increase
the cost of goods produced in the United States
and reduce our global competitiveness...

And here's the kicker...

--A new "fee" (i.e. tax) on refined motor fuels
(i.e. gasoline) as "the mechanism for reducing
carbon emissions in the transportation sector"
(Reuters).

While we do not yet know how large this gas tax
will be, it must be large enough to cause people
to use less gasoline in order to achieve the goal
of "reducing carbon emissions."

A carbon tax on utilities, manufacturing and gasoline... all
passed on to consumers.

+ + ObamaCare strategy being repeated

There is more evidence that the Senate is planning on using
the ObamaCare strategy to pass the Cap and Tax Energy Tax.
Step One starts on Monday with the "unofficial" release of
the bill. The bill will not actually be "introduced" into
the Senate so that Sen. Reid can take it directly to the
Senate floor and skip the Committee process -- just like
ObamaCare

After that, it gets worse...

If the Reid backroom deal succeeds, pundits are saying Reid
and Pelosi would wait until after the election to pass the
final version -- to avoid having the final vote on a
massive tax increase before the November elections.

Trading Multiple Time Frames In FX

by John Kicklighter
---
Most technical traders in the foreign exchange market, whether they are novices or seasoned pros, have come across the concept of multiple time frame analysis in their market educations. However, this well-founded means of reading charts and developing strategies is often the first level of analysis to be forgotten when a trader pursues an edge over the market.

In specializing as a day trader, momentum trader, breakout trader or event risk trader, among other styles, many market participants lose sight of the larger trend, miss clear levels of support and resistance and overlook high probability entry and stop levels. In this article, we will describe what multiple time frame analysis is and how to choose the various periods and how to put it all together. (For related reading, see Multiple Time Frames Can Multiply Returns.)

The #VAT Commission

---
Grabbed this post from The Wall Street Journal click here for original

A couple of trillion dollars in new deficit spending later, President Obama yesterday signed an executive order creating a Bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.

Yes, that's really what he called it. And you wonder why Americans are cynical about politics?

Having proposed peacetime records for spending as a share of the economy—more than 25% of GDP this year and next—Mr. Obama now promises to make "the tough choices necessary to solve our fiscal problems." And what might those choices be? "Everything's on the table. That's how this thing's going to work," Mr. Obama said.

By "everything," Mr. Obama means in particular tax increases. The President vowed in 2008 that he wouldn't raise taxes on anyone earning less than $250,000 a year, but that's looking to be as forlorn a hope as peace in Palestine.

Mr. Obama's own recent budget proposal estimates that deficits will exceed $8.5 trillion over the next decade—even including revenues from the huge tax increases scheduled for next year and other new levies that aren't likely to pass. So the President and Democrats are desperately seeking political, and especially Republican, cover to go where the big money is by taxing the middle class. The commission is a bid for that cover.

His choices as co-chairmen are a pair of old Beltway hands who are likely to oblige. Erskine Bowles is a long-time investment banker who was Bill Clinton's White House chief of staff and sat on the board of GM from 2005 until it slid into bankruptcy last year. At least he has experience with rotten balance sheets.

Alan Simpson is a former Republican Senator from Wyoming who was among the bigger GOP skeptics of tax cutting. We'll give him credit for daring to challenge AARP on entitlements during his career, but our guess is that he'll accept tax increases if Democrats agree to cut Medicare and Social Security benefits for future retirees who make more than median incomes.

The rest of the 18 commission members will be named by the four House and Senate leaders from both parties (three each) and four more by Mr. Obama. This means Democrats are likely to outnumber Republicans 10-8, which further tilts the commission toward those who want to take federal taxes from the modern average of about 18.5% of GDP to 25% or more. The real name for this exercise should be the VAT Commission, as in the value-added tax it is likely to propose.

Our advice to GOP leaders is that they select the most antitax members they can find in the hope that they will file a dissenting report. If Mr. Obama really wants to balance the budget, he and the Democrats who run all of Washington with large majorities can show their sincerity by starting to reduce spending now.

You CAN go 2 JAIL 4 SPEAKING!

Taken from our local newspaper The Joplin Globe click here for original story on-line

The members of the Hutaree militia who were arrested recently had “dark hearts and evil intent,” according to a government prosecutor. They are accused of conspiring to kill police officers and wage war against the U.S. government. They were collecting guns and explosives, but they hadn’t done anything, just talked about it. They were arrested on conspiracy charges.

According to U.S. law, conspiracy charges can be prosecuted without the suspect actually making efforts toward that goal. Some states make taking action toward the crime a prerequisite. Indiana’s laws states: “A person attempts to commit a crime when, acting with the culpability required for commission of the crime, he engages in conduct that constitutes a substantial step toward commission of the crime.”

The government has to be careful when it begins alleging conspiracy because that can be an umbrella term for anything the government wants it to mean.

U.S. law says this: “It is important to note that an actual crime is not necessary to prosecute a conspiracy case — only the stated intent to break the law.” In effect, this is prosecuting speech.

This is similar to the many terrorist arrests made since Sept. 11, 2001. In 2005, a group of men was arrested in Florida because, the government said, the men had designs on the destruction of the Sears Tower in Chicago. It didn’t matter that they didn’t have the funds to pull off such an intense act, but all they had to do was talk about it. Last year the ringleader got 13 years although the government wanted 70.

What the Hutaree members and the Florida conspirators had in common was a federal mole who infiltrated their groups. These are paid informants who lavish cash on the groups they enter, egg them on their destructive paths and keep giving them moral support when their spirits lag. The informants have a financial stake in making sure the feds can make a case. It’s insidious that a law-enforcement agency would pay people to ensure a crime is committed. Oftentimes, these infiltrators were actual FBI agents, which should mean that the FBI is complicit in the crime.
But none of that ever plays out in court where the focus is on the groups and their leaders and what they wanted to do.

Since Sept. 11, 2001, FBI radar has been fine-tuned to any supposed terrorist activity. In 2009, the Justice Department sent out fliers to local law enforcement agencies warning of a rise in militia and white supremacy groups of the kind that gave us Timothy McVeigh, who reduced the federal building in Oklahoma City to rubble in 1995. The Southern Poverty Law Center recently reported a 300 percent rise in what it calls hate groups since President Obama was elected. So it’s understandable that the government is edgy in these matters.

But there’s a loss of liberty in such sweeping law-enforcement efforts. The public never knows how much of these cases are actually based on evidence or prosecutor hyperbole, and convictions often rely on the latter. These cases — which punish thought and speech and association, all guaranteed by the Constitution — are a miscarriage of justice. There must be a better way.
There’s a loss of liberty in sweeping law enforcement efforts based on what is said and not what is done.

News coverage & bias #CNN #FOXNews #TeaParty

---
I try very hard to watch BOTH CNN and FOXNews to try to get multiple sides of every issue...

Trouble is that with all the horrible issues we face today about all I have been seeing on CNN lately is school bullying, Tiger Woods 'news' and the like...

It is so easy for a 'news' organization to ignore issues they don't want to high-light or focus on and in it's stead talk about trivial meaningless stuff...

The dollar is dying. Which is a huge part of the 'plan' for government and the federal reserve. A diving dollar makes it much easier for the United States to service it's debt. A weak dollar is also helping drive the equity market higher, artificially...

A weak dollar is NOT in our interest as citizens! Deflation would be much more in OUR interest... It would punish debt/borrowers and reward savers... The opposite of what is happening now.

The debt/deficit is crushing our entire nation and yet Washington continues to spend ever more tax payer dollars to prop up and/or take over whatever they choose...

Everyone is coming after consumers for money! All levels of government, Utility companies, insurance companies, drug companies... Everyone is DESPERATE for money and they ALL want to take it from US, the hapless American citizen...

We have wars, undeclared by congress, going on all over the world at immense costs... This likely to help support the economy through use of the military industrial complex...

Unemployment remains close to 17% according to the BLS which I believe uses pre-Clinton administration calculations... The government and the FED constantly change the way they report economic data in order to display it in a way that they like... This is NO different than outright lying...

Foreclosures are expected to top 5 MILLION this year! Bankruptcies are at record levels... Homelessness is through the roof... Yet BOTH Washington and the media choose to ignore these facts as much as humanly possible... I wonder what the 'tone' might be were a republican in office and republicans in control of the government... The bias is quite obvious to me...

China hates us now... boo hoo... But who in the world doesn't?

We are experiencing huge commodity inflation that promises only to get much worse...

We may end up experiencing hyper-inflation...

Demographically speaking we are totally screwed...

Our political leaders care about NOTHING but never ending election cycles...

Our world and the united States itself are crumbling all around us...

Our government and the federal reserve banking system, central banks around the world, know exactly what is going on, how and why but they do NOT want the American people to know anything about all the corruption and manipulation that is taking place...

It appears our taxes are headed higher, very likely much higher...

I hear a lot about some of these issues and more on FOX News... To me CNN seems to ignore most all of it, if at all possible...

The TeaParty is real... Made up of concerned, educated Americans from all walks of life, from all political persuasions, who want the lies and cover-ups, greed and corruption, dismantling of the America we have always known, to stop... MANY people believe even a horrible depression with spiraling deflation would be much better than what is taking place now in an attempt to avoid it...

Put me in that camp...

Try to keep yourself informed about what the actual issues and news are... There is no reason that anyone can't be fully aware of what is going on in the country and the world just by intelligently using the internet to gather information... It isn't ONLY for porn and game playing! lol

While I don't really consider myself to be an extremist... I truly believe that the world would be a much better place WITHOUT government, central banks and large, multi-national corporations...

Don't you?
